skos:definition """S-band Polarimetric Doppler Radar (SPOL) is a new S-band polarimetric
weather radar developed at the National Center for Atmospheric
Research (NCAR) to serve the weather research community. It replaces
the NCAR CP-2 polarimetric radar. S-Pol was developed for the purpose
of providing a state-of-the-art polarization diverse radar for cost
effective world wide deployment. It is planned that S-Pol will be
deployed during the mid-August to mid-November 1999 Special Observing
Period of MAP 47km northwest of Milano, Italy
