DÉFINITION

  • Maps, either static or dynamic, developed to illuminate geographic areas that are affected by or vulnerable to a particular hazard. When properly utilized by decision makers, hazards mapping can be used to save lives and reduce economic losses by limiting or avoiding exposure to a hazard. Hazards maps can be made for natural hazards, such as earthquakes and floods, as well as technological hazards like groundwater contamination and gas leaks.
