FLUORESCENCE
DÉFINITION
- The emission of radiation, especially of visible light, by a substance during exposure to external radiation, as light or x-rays. Since the chlorophyll molecule fluoresces, the measurement of fluorescence can be used to calculate chlorophyll concentration in the ocean.
