DEFINITION

  • S-band Polarimetric Doppler Radar (SPOL) is a new S-band polarimetric weather radar developed at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to serve the weather research community. It replaces the NCAR CP-2 polarimetric radar. S-Pol was developed for the purpose of providing a state-of-the-art polarization diverse radar for cost effective world wide deployment.
